The silver maple is one of the fastest growing trees in Maryland. It needs a lot of space for its broad spreading crown, but it is well adapted to urban areas. The tiny flowers are some of the first to bloom in early March making them an important food source for pollinators. The leaves turn a bright yellow in the fall.
