Northern Catalpa
Catalpa speciosa
The northern catalpa is a tough species that is well-adapted for urban settings. It has large heart-shaped leaves, about the size of your hand, that turn yellow in the fall. It has very showy clusters of large white flowers in spring and summer. Long ‘cigar-like’ seed pods are produced and often remain on the tree for many months.
