The eastern arborvitae, also known as northern white-cedar, is a fast-growing evergreen tree. It is well adapted to thrive on urban sites. Its narrow upright shape and soft scale-like leaves makes it attractive and frequently used for screening and landscaping. Many cultivars are available providing a wide array of choices for size, shape, and color variations.
